Structural rules (every chapter)
  • Opens with a scene, not an argument
  • Lands compliance discipleship at least once, extending the term
  • Produces one quotable sentence a reader can carry (the chapter is not done until this exists)
  • Ends by setting up the next chapter without stating it
Chapter rhythm — the four movements
  1. Scene. Concrete pastoral encounter. A person, not an idea. The scene should already carry the chapter's theological question before the reader knows what the question is.
  2. The mirror turns. The machine performs or approximates something recognizably human. The reader feels: if the machine can do this, what is actually missing?
  3. The difference. Name the irreducibly personal reality AI cannot inhabit. Answer: why can the machine imitate this but never become it, and why has the church confused the imitation for the reality?
  4. The church. Compliance discipleship develops another dimension. End facing forward — the next question emerging naturally, not announced.
The machine has nowhere to go. But we do.
